About

Hi, I’m Marius — the person behind emaer.

I’m a German music producer and mixing engineer based in Bern, Switzerland.

Hip-hop has been with me since the late ’90s and early 2000s. I grew up listening to artists like Mobb Deep, Tupac and Outkast, started making beats and recording my own music — and then left it all behind for many years.

Coming back to music much later, I found that my taste had changed. I still love the music I grew up with, but today I’m just as inspired by modern production, unusual textures, space and atmosphere. I’m less interested in recreating a certain era than in taking everything I love about music and finding my own sound somewhere in between.

Shaping sound

What fascinates me most is bringing things together.

I love experimenting with sounds and shaping individual elements until they become one coherent picture. That’s what draws me to both production and mixing: the moment when drums, bass, instruments, vocals and space stop feeling like separate tracks and start feeling like a piece of music.

Mastering has become another part of that fascination. I used to be intimidated by it; today I’m drawn to the precision and restraint it requires — those subtle decisions that can change the way an entire mix feels.

I work entirely in the box and currently monitor exclusively on headphones, using Audeze MM-500s with an RME Babyface Pro FS and Logic Pro. It’s a setup I know well, and one I continue to explore and refine.

The Producer’s Journey

I learned music production many years ago, but most of what I know today has grown through practice, experimentation, courses, endless listening and a lot of curiosity.

That’s also what emaer — The Producer’s Journey on YouTube is about. I’m not documenting a journey I’ve already completed. I’m documenting it while I’m on it — learning, trying things, asking questions and sharing what I discover along the way.

Right now, hip-hop beats are at the heart of emaer, but I want to keep going deeper into mixing and mastering, work with more vocals and complete songs, create custom productions and release more of my own music.

emaer is where I make music, shape sound and keep learning.

Let’s see where it leads.
